존 폴 존스

존 폴 존스(본명 존 폴, 영어: John Paul Jones, 1747년 7월 6일 ~ 1792년 7월 18일)는 미국 독립 전쟁 당시 대륙해군에서 복무한 스코틀랜드 태생의 해군 장교이다. 종종 "미국 해군의 아버지"라고 불리는 존스는 여러 평론가들에게 미국의 군사 역사상 가장 위대한 해군 사령관 중 한 명으로 평가받는다. 커크커브리트셔 아비글랜드에서 태어난 존스는 13세에 선원이 되어 노예선을 포함한 여러 상선에서 복무했다. 반란을 일으킨 부하를 죽인 후 체포를 피하기 위해 영국 버지니아 식민지로 도피했으며,  1775c.년 새로 창설된 대륙해군에 합류했다.

John Paul Jones was a British-American naval officer who served in the Continental Navy during the American Revolutionary War. Often referred to as the "Father of the American Navy", Jones is regarded by several commentators as one of the greatest naval commanders in the military history of the United States.
